BBC Winners - Silvana Lima - BRazil

Most viewed video feature on BBC News WEBsite in 2016

Silvana Lima’s story of recognition versus sporting ability was the first in a six-part online series looking at how six sportswomen came to excel at their sport - the obstacles, challenges, failures and triumphs along the way.

With nearly 5 million page views, this short film was the most viewed video story on the BBC News website in 2016.

This series got ‘Highly commended short feature’ in the AIB awards. It won bronze award at ShAFF 2017 for ‘Best Women in Adventure Film’ and was nominated at the ONA awards in the ‘Sports visualisation’ category.

The success of this film was down to the compelling story, emotive subject matter, engaging character and cutting-edge filming techniques. And all produced on a shoestring budget of just a few thousand pounds.

Silvana’s plight resonated with national and international media including The Daily Telegraph, Fox News, Le Figaro and La Gazzetta.
